Creating a wedding guest list can be both exciting and challenging. The staff at Cornerstone Ranch Events Center are here to help you navigate planning such a big life event! We are one fo the largest event centers in the Texas panhandle, and have been in business for almost 10 years! Here are some steps on how to create your wedding guest list.
Begin your wedding guest list by first listing out immediate family members. This is typically going to include parents, siblings, and grandparents. Your extended family should come next, which will include aunts, uncles, cousins, and other close relatives you wish to invite. There should never be any pressure to invite someone to your wedding reception who is toxic in your life, or you do not get along with. This is your wedding day and should reflect a happy time, surrounded by loved ones who have supported you along the way. Check out our bridal tips and download a planning guide!
Close friends, work mates, and other aquaintences should be listed next. These people have grown up with you and may have even introduced you to your future spouse. They should definitely be included in the wedding guest list. You'll want your fiance to go through their list seperately and then combine both lists.
Depending on the wedding venue you have chosen, you may need to cut down on the number of guests you are inviting to accommodate the space you have chosen. If budget or space do not allow for the number of guests you listed, you may have to prioritize those who have been most influential in your lives. Consider the relationships that matter most to you and remove the rest of the list. Each guest adds to the overall cost of the wedding due to catering and venue pay per person, so be mindful of how many guests you can accommodate and still remain in budget. Cornerstone Ranch Events Center in Amarillo, Texas can accommodate up to 500 guests inside. Our wedding packages are easy to upgrade after booking with us, incase you have a few more than you initially thought! When booking a wedding venue, you should definitely consider booking a larger venue than you think. Event spaces fill up quickly once you add catering, cakes, dance floor, tables, chairs, DJ and more to the reception.
If you are still coming up with a number of guests you are not comfortable with, divide the list into groups of "must invite," "maybe," and "optional." Doing so can help you cut the list down and get you back into budget. Be sure you are including on the invitations if wedding guests can bring a plus-one or if children are or are not invited. These need to be clearly communicated so there isn't any question as to who is invited or not.
Creating a wedding guest list can be quite an emotional journey. Balancing different expectations from family and friends can be tricky, but open communication and a willingness to compromise can make the process smoother. The goal is to have a wedding day surrounded by those who truly matter to you. How are you feeling about your guest list so far?
